John Kiernan is the owner of Blue Line Studios located in Warrenton, Va. He started a career in Law Enforcement in 1988 by attending the Suffolk County Police Academy, and began working for the Southampton Village Police Department, Southampton, N.Y.
In 1989 he relocated to Virginia and joined the Fairfax County Police Department. During this time as a patrol officer, he became a member of the SWAT team, Neighborhood bike patrol, Accident Reconstruction unit and a fitness coordinator.
In the course of his career, he maintained his love of art by painting murals at the Criminal Justice Academy, the Fair Oaks and Sully District Stations. He created the logo for the National Chief’s Challenge for safety belts and the logo used by the SWAT team. He helped raise money for fellow fallen officer, Billy Moore’s family by selling prints of his creation, “The Straight Path”.
John left the police force in 2001 to pursue a full time career in art. Since then he has traveled to Netherlands, Italy and Canada to learn and display his beautiful works of art. His original painting, “The Joker”, was selected to be displayed in the Escher in the Park Museum in The Hague, Netherlands. John continues to integrate his love of art with his passion of his former career as a police officer.
